Winter Programme 2016 - 2017




 Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month (September to April inclusive) at our new venue, The Trinity Centre, Church Hill, Mill Street, Sutton Coldfield B72 1TF. Parking is available at the Trinity Centre.

Non-members are warmly welcome (admission £4.00). Refreshments available at meeting.

 Thursday 8th September 2016: Annual General Meeting.  Followed by guest speaker The Rt. Hon. Andrew Mitchell MP giving a talk on "The history of the battle to re-assert Sutton Coldfield's Royal Status".

Thursday 13th October 2016Mike Bushell, Manager of The Sutton Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID) - "Birds, Bears and Benchends - engaging the community with the Owls and other Art Trails".

Thursday 10th November 2016: Elizabeth Perkins - "Birmingham Conservationist Trust" (soon to be called the "Birmingham Trust Network"). The trust is a charity that preserves threatened listed buildings in the City. Elizabeth will explain how you can get involved.

Thursday 8th December 2016: Andrew Lound, Historian & Physicist - "A New Look at the Story of the Lunar Society". Seasonal refreshments will be served at the meeting.

Thursday 12th January 2017:  Elizabeth Allison, BEM - "Tavern Tales of the West Midlands - A Refill".

Thursday 9th February 2017: "Parliamentary Outreach Group" -  A non-party political organization funded by Parliament to raise awareness of its functions and how local groups and individuals can influence our elected decision makers.

Thursday 9th March 2017: Janet Diamond, a former Wimbledon Umpire - "This Tennis Life".

 Thursday 13th April: 2017 Joint Meeting with the Sutton Coldfield Local History Research Group - Christine Clueley - "Compton Verney" - The History of this Warwickshire house and grounds designed by Capability Brown and Compton Verney's important art collection
